Loureiro, the founder of Abano Producións, brings an extensive pedigree in European animation to the role. Her recent work, the feature film Decorado, secured the 2026 Spanish Goya Award for Best Animated Feature Film, signaling a shift for MDJM toward high-level artistic storytelling. Under the new appointment, she will oversee the company's long-term animation strategy, providing guidance on everything from digital ecosystems to the commercialization of original intellectual property.
MDJM Taps Goya-Winning Producer Chelo Loureiro as Chief Knowledge Officer
The Scotland-based firm MDJM Ltd. has appointed award-winning Spanish animation producer Chelo Loureiro as its Chief Knowledge Officer. The two-year agreement aims to bridge the gap between creative auteur animation and global commercial strategy, as the company expands its footprint in immersive cultural infrastructure and original IP development.

Her arrival aligns with MDJM’s ongoing efforts to establish a cultural platform that integrates Eastern philosophical narratives with Western production standards. Beyond her role at Abano Producións, Loureiro will assist in refining the company’s approach to the Fernie Castle Animation Museum and its broader digital animation projects. The company stated that it views animation not merely as entertainment, but as a primary language for cultural memory and international communication, a philosophy they intend to cement through Loureiro’s strategic oversight.
