With a fresh $700 million in Series C funding, Neko Health is preparing to bring its AI-driven diagnostic clinics to the United States. The company, which combines high-resolution imaging and blood analysis into a single preventive health assessment, plans to launch its first American site in New York.
The latest capital injection, led by Lightspeed Venture Partners and O.G. Venture Partners, brings the company’s total disclosed funding to over $1 billion. Notable individual backers include Mark Zuckerberg, Priscilla Chan, Maria Sharapova, and will.i.am. This expansion marks a significant shift for the firm, founded by Spotify co-founder Daniel Ek and Hjalmar Nilsonne, as it attempts to transplant its European model—already active in the UK and Sweden—into the US private healthcare market.
Neko’s service relies on a 60-minute, non-invasive assessment that aggregates data from proprietary sensors, electrocardiograms, and blood tests to scan for risks like skin cancer, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes. While two of the company’s devices received FDA 510(k) clearance in 2026, the overall screening service operates as a wellness provider rather than a diagnostic medical practice. Customers are expected to pay out-of-pocket, as the clinics do not currently participate in insurance plans.
Despite the rapid growth and high-profile support, the company faces scrutiny regarding the clinical efficacy of its combined screening approach. Independent peer-reviewed studies validating the complete service remain absent, and the company has yet to release data on false-positive rates or the long-term impact on patient outcomes. While Neko points to a subset of repeat customers showing improved health markers, these figures lack a control group and do not isolate the scan as the definitive cause of change. As the company prepares for its US debut, it must navigate both the regulatory landscape and the challenge of proving that its automated, AI-augmented model offers a measurable clinical advantage over traditional preventive pathways.
