The integration process begins with the consolidation of NIBC’s savings business into the ABN AMRO challenger brand, BUX. NIBC, founded in 1945, brings a portfolio serving 325,000 savings clients and 200,000 mortgage holders. According to ABN AMRO, the acquisition is expected to improve overall profitability, despite an anticipated 70 to 75 basis point impact on the bank's Common Equity Tier 1 capital ratio in the third quarter of 2026.
ABN AMRO Finalizes €875 Million Acquisition of NIBC
ABN AMRO has officially finalized its €875 million purchase of NIBC, acquiring the Dutch bank from Blackstone at 0.85 times its book value. The deal, first announced in November 2025, aims to bolster the buyer's mortgage and savings market presence across the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany.

Management shifts accompany the transition, with ABN AMRO executives Choy van der Hooft-Cheong, Ferdinand Vaandrager, and Gitte van Haaren-Isbouts joining the NIBC supervisory board. While NIBC now operates as a wholly owned subsidiary, full legal integration remains pending, contingent upon regulatory approval and consultation with the Works Council. NIBC's financial performance will be reflected in ABN AMRO’s third-quarter results, starting from the August 1, 2026 consolidation date.
