Loews Corporation Posts $444 Million Profit in Second Quarter

Loews Corporation reported net income of $444 million for the second quarter of 2026, marking a significant rise from the $391 million recorded during the same period last year. Earnings per share reached $2.16, bolstered by strong performances across the company’s hospitality and energy infrastructure divisions.

The conglomerate’s growth was driven largely by Loews Hotels, which saw net income jump 71% to $48 million. This surge reflects higher average daily rates and increased occupancy across the company's portfolio, with notable strength at Universal Orlando Resort properties and the recently renovated Miami Beach Hotel. Simultaneously, Boardwalk Pipelines reported net income of $100 million, up from $88 million, benefiting from increased gas transportation rates and expanded project capacity.

CNA Financial, the company’s insurance arm, contributed $294 million in net income. While the insurance segment faced pressure from a higher underlying loss ratio and increased loss cost trends, these were mitigated by robust net investment income. During the quarter, Loews Corporation remained active in capital management, repurchasing 1.4 million shares of its common stock for $146 million. As of June 30, the parent company maintained a solid liquidity position with $4.4 billion in cash and investments against $1.8 billion in debt.
