A mere 22 days after signing a formal contract, GM Defense delivered the first batch of mission-critical housing components for the PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement (MSE) interceptor. This rapid turnaround highlights a growing push to integrate commercial manufacturing agility into the defense industrial base to bolster national security.

This initiative aligns with Lockheed Martin’s broader $8–9 billion investment plan to scale munitions output across more than 20 U.S. sites. The company anticipates a nearly 50% increase in production and warehousing space following current expansions. Stephen duMont, CEO of GM Defense, stated that the collaboration demonstrates the viability of applying large-scale commercial manufacturing to high-stakes defense systems, a model the companies intend to expand to programs like THAAD and PrSM.
