By analyzing data from pre-survey, in-survey, and post-survey phases, the system identifies when a specific supplier is delivering substandard traffic. Once a pattern is confirmed, Research Defender can terminate that source for the affected project without manual intervention.
Rep Data Upgrades Fraud Detection with Real-Time Source Control
Market research firm Rep Data has integrated real-time adaptive source control into its Research Defender platform, allowing the system to automatically block problematic sample providers while a study is still active. The upgrade marks a shift from evaluating individual respondents to monitoring the reliability of entire supply channels.
"Fraud prevention has largely centered on determining whether you've got a good respondent," said Vignesh Krishnan, co-founder and EVP of product at Rep Data. "We can now zoom out and ask whether the source supplying those respondents is right for that specific project." This approach utilizes four AI specialists and a continuous test-and-control methodology to refine its assessments. The system evaluates up to 101 signals, ranging from device fingerprints and respondent behavior to the relevance of open-ended text responses and historical supplier rejection rates. Currently, the technology is applied to samples sourced through Rep Data's Research Desk network, reinforcing the company's focus on automating data integrity for its more than 750 global clients.
