Awear Emerges to Give Users Ownership of Their Personal AI Agents

At the Snapdragon Summit in Maui, startup Awear unveiled a cross-device intelligence layer designed to decouple personal AI agents from specific hardware ecosystems. By shifting control of context-aware data back to the individual, the platform aims to prevent tech giants from monopolizing user memories and digital identities.

Awear Emerges to Give Users Ownership of Their Personal AI Agents

Founder and CEO Dr. Ash Saulsbury, a veteran of Apple, Meta, and Microsoft, envisions a future where AI acts as a persistent interface rather than a static application. The platform launches with a focus on smart glasses, utilizing the Snapdragon AR1+ chipset to ensure that an agent’s preferences and identity remain intact regardless of the device. This approach allows brands to maintain direct relationships with customers, crafting unique, hardware-specific AI experiences without ceding control to third-party ecosystems.

The leadership team emphasizes that privacy is a structural requirement rather than an afterthought. Co-founder Jan Eißfeldt, formerly of the Wikimedia Foundation, is overseeing the development of trust architectures intended to prevent the monetization of user data. By aligning incentives away from advertising, Awear seeks to establish new industry standards for personal data sovereignty. As the technology expands beyond eyewear into automotive and robotic systems, the company aims to prove that portability and brand-specific customization can coexist with user-centric control.
