Leadership Shifts at Gen II and Aegon Asset Management

Niel Krastin steps into a director role at Gen II Fund Services in Guernsey, while Iain McGowan joins Aegon Asset Management as partnership director in Edinburgh. These appointments reflect ongoing talent acquisition efforts as both firms aim to strengthen their respective footprints in the private capital and institutional sectors.

Leadership Shifts at Gen II and Aegon Asset Management

Krastin arrives at Gen II with two decades of financial experience, having previously served as a client relationship director. His background spans fund accounting, financial reporting, and operations, with a significant tenure in South African asset management prior to his current move. Matt Beresford, country head for the UK and Channel Islands, noted that Krastin’s technical expertise aligns with the firm’s recent licensing from the Guernsey Financial Services Commission. This expansion follows a broader period of change for Gen II, which was recently acquired by the US private markets firm KKR.

Simultaneously, Aegon Asset Management is bolstering its UK institutional presence by appointing Iain McGowan to the newly created role of partnership director. Operating from Edinburgh, McGowan will report directly to Adrian Hull, head of the UK Client Group. McGowan brings over 30 years of industry experience, including a six-year stint as director of investments at Scottish Widows. A qualified actuary, his career history encompasses leadership in investment transformation and fund development, positioning him to manage Aegon’s relationships with key institutional partners across the region.
