Appotronics AIMapper Streamlines Projection Mapping via Spatial AI

At InfoComm 2026, the Beijing-based company Appotronics secured a ProjectorCentral Best of Show Award for its AIMapper platform. The software replaces manual, labor-intensive calibration processes with an automated 3D reconstruction and alignment workflow, effectively bridging the gap between physical architecture and digital content generation.

Traditionally, projection mapping demands a complex sequence of 3D scanning, manual projector calibration, and iterative content adjustment. AIMapper disrupts this cycle by utilizing a projection-aware engine that simultaneously maps physical geometry and projector positioning. By capturing scenes via cameras or mobile devices, the system constructs high-fidelity models that account for spatial depth and surface interaction, enabling sub-pixel accuracy that renders visual seams invisible to the human eye.

The platform integrates the entire production pipeline, from initial scene capture to final projection, into a unified interface. Once the environment is scanned, users utilize natural language prompts to generate content tailored to the specific geometry of the space. This approach ensures that visual elements maintain perspective consistency on complex surfaces like domes or irregular facades. According to Ken Huang, Appotronics’ Software Director, the goal is to lower technical entry barriers, allowing creators to shift their focus from mechanical alignment to visual storytelling. ProjectorCentral’s Editor in Chief, Jeremy Glowacki, cited the platform’s ability to scale and simplify essential projection tasks as the primary driver behind its selection for the award.
