The transition brings the premium blank apparel maker under the umbrella of the Issaquah-based wholesale supplier while promising to keep the brand's creative identity intact. Megan Spire, who has spent nearly 15 years with the company, emphasized that the core team and product philosophy remain unchanged. The merger aims to leverage SanMar’s national distribution scale to accelerate product development and innovation for the 2027 season, which is expected to include over 20 new styles.
SanMar Acquires BELLA+CANVAS in Strategic Apparel Industry Shift
SanMar Corporation has finalized its acquisition of BELLA+CANVAS, integrating the Los Angeles-based apparel brand into its wholesale portfolio. Despite the change in ownership, the company will maintain its status as an independent entity, with long-time executive Megan Spire continuing to lead operations from its California headquarters.

For the supply chain, the move shifts the wholesale landscape as SanMar assumes the role of exclusive national wholesale distributor. Existing local and regional partnerships—including Atlantic Coast Cotton, Carolina Made, and Staton—will continue to operate alongside the new national arrangement. Michelle Yu, Vice President of Creative & Design, stated that the brand’s focus on trend-forward apparel and manufacturing quality remains the primary directive for the design team moving forward.
